At the moment, this page is will be a collection of Canaanite, Mycenaean, and Minoan (and a scattering of other cutures, including Hittite and Philistine) re-creations and inspired pieces... as time goes on, these might become their own pages. We use the tan stoneware to replicate the lighter clay colors of these, most of them glazed on only interiors and mouth-touch regions (for food safety) with a satin clear glaze because the originals lacked any glaze. Please, if you want a fully-glazed exterior--the texture of the bare clay is not for everyone--let us know.

The reason for that lower carination is to catch the lees in wines or other beverages with sediment.
These were (supposedly) used as dippers to retrieve the contents of giant amphora-like vessels--but they are also just cool miniatures, fully glazed with satin glaze inside and out.
This is a miniaturized version of a krater (a drink-mixing vessel, like a punch bowl), scaled to drink out of.
